Lucknow, Feb 11 (NationPress) Maharaja Suhel Dev University, inaugurated in Azamgarh in 2021, has quickly developed into a pivotal hub for higher education in the state. The institution is attracting a significant number of students from the city and surrounding regions, eager to pursue specialized studies following their schooling.
In a remarkably short period, the university has established a reputable presence in the educational landscape, owing to its impressive infrastructure, diverse facilities, and highly qualified faculty.
Students benefit from not just excellent education, but also from modern amenities including smart classrooms, a Wi-Fi-enabled library, a music hall, and ample sports facilities.
The University Registrar, Dr. Anjani Kumar Mishra, informed IANS that the university employs around 80 full-time faculty members alongside an equal number of outsourced staff, offering a variety of courses.
He noted that the student body, which started at approximately 300, has surged to over 1,000, largely due to the introduction of new academic programs.
“Most classes utilize smart technology. The university features modern facilities, a state-of-the-art library, and a dedicated music building. Our library is also accessible to college students, encouraging local institutions to enhance their own libraries,” he stated.
Dr. Mishra expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for fostering a supportive environment in Azamgarh, and he is optimistic about the city's potential to become a key educational hub in the region.
Library Coordinator Brij Kishore Mishra remarked, “With over 1,000 students enrolled in various programs, our library provides online Wi-Fi access and a comprehensive collection of books, facilitating effective study.”
Students have lauded the facilities available. MSc student Pawan Kumar Chauhan mentioned that the university's proximity saves him from long commutes. All classes are well-organized, and essential books are readily available.

This institution prides itself on being ragging-free, emphasizing both academics and extracurricular activities. Previously, students traveled to cities like Kanpur or Allahabad for higher education, but now they can access quality education locally, elevating the overall education standard.
Vibha Mishra, an educator in the Integrative Science Department, remarked that the university’s establishment has particularly empowered female students from rural backgrounds. They faced numerous social and financial barriers to pursuing higher education outside the district, but now they can study locally and are enrolling in large numbers.
Guest lecturer Vaishali Singh from the Commerce Department stated that the university has proven advantageous not only for students but also for the faculty. It serves as a boon for those unable to pursue education abroad due to economic and social constraints.
