Bengaluru, March 30 (NationPress) Mocking the Congress administration in Karnataka for its decision to negotiate IPL tickets for lawmakers and ultimately securing just three tickets to attend Royal Challengers Bengaluru matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, BJP Yuva Morcha National President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya remarked, “This will be remembered as the greatest accomplishment of this government.”

In a statement on social media platform X, Tejasvi Surya added with sarcasm, “A truly momentous day for Karnataka.”

He further expressed, “Kudos to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister for successfully navigating such a complicated negotiation process with numerous stakeholders. This will greatly benefit the six crore citizens of Karnataka.”

“I hope their negotiation skills can also be applied to resolve the Ukraine-Russia and Iran-Israel crises,” he quipped.

It is important to note that Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D.K. Shivakumar announced on Monday that the matter of ticket allocation for Indian Premier League matches has been amicably resolved, with an updated quota for legislators and Members of Parliament.

He made this announcement after a press briefing following discussions with representatives from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and DNA Event Management Company.

Shivakumar indicated that he had previously conferred with the Speaker and senior party leaders concerning this issue.

It has been agreed that legislators (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) will receive three tickets for Indian Premier League matches instead of the previous allocation of four. For international matches, the KSCA will provide two complimentary tickets, while any additional tickets will need to be purchased.

He clarified: “Two tickets will be complimentary, and if they desire two more, those must be bought.”

Representatives from Royal Challengers Bengaluru, DNA network, and KSCA management had previously engaged with him on this matter.

Karnataka State Cricket Association President and former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad was present during these discussions.

“If anyone prefers not to receive tickets, they may submit a letter. MLAs often have various requests, and not all can be accommodated. The matter has now been resolved,” he stated.

Shivakumar acknowledged that in states like Rajasthan, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata, a substantial portion of tickets—over 50 to 60 percent—are allocated to government officials and associated categories.

“In comparison to those regions, there is less intervention here,” he noted, adding that the issue has been settled.

The ticket allocation for Karnataka MLAs for IPL matches at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was addressed in the Assembly last Thursday, where Speaker U.T. Khader urged the government to engage with the relevant authorities.

The Speaker recommended inviting the authorities for discussions and establishing a clear policy. He suggested that at least four tickets should be provided to each MLA and that proper arrangements should be made to ensure they are treated with dignity. His comments were met with applause from the legislators.
