Bengaluru, April 28 (NationPress) - Tejasvi Surya, the President of the BJP National Youth Wing and MP for Bengaluru South, criticized the Karnataka government for its inadequate compensation to the families of two victims who lost their lives in a terrorist attack. He stated that if the government possessed even a minor sense of humanity, it would have provided at least Rs 1 crore to each family.
Surya elaborated, “If this amount was invested in a fixed deposit, the interest could sustain these families and support their children's education. In contrast, Kerala's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, offered Rs 15 lakh to families affected by an elephant attack. Here in Karnataka, despite the tragic nature of the terrorist incident, the government failed to provide an adequate response.” He expressed his disappointment during a press conference at the BJP's state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru.
Surya remarked that it is unreasonable to expect compassion from a Congress party that has “sold itself for Muslim votes,” urging the Hindu community to step up and support the bereaved families. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized a torchlight rally in Bengaluru South to condemn the terrorist act and called for compensation exceeding the amount offered by the state government. So far, they have collected around Rs 20 lakh from the public.
He announced that the BJP would soon deliver Rs 10 lakh and one rupee to each family of the victims, Bharat Bhushan and Manjunath. Surya also shared that R.V. University pledged to cover the entire educational expenses of Pallavi Manjunath's son, Abhijaya, up to his postgraduate degree, and he would personally hand over the confirmation letter to her.
Furthermore, Transcend, an educational institution on Kanakapura Road, is set to provide CBSE education from 1st to 12th grade for Bharat Bhushan’s three-year-old child. A confirmation letter has already been sent to Sujatha Bharat Bhushan.
Additionally, Mahaveer Jain Hospital in Bengaluru has committed to addressing the healthcare needs of both families for the next 11 years, with formal letters confirming this arrangement. Surya expressed his gratitude to these institutions.
He urged temples, Hindu charities, and industrialists across the state to take action and support the affected families. Surya criticized the state government, claiming that the terrorists targeted not just the Government of India but the entire Hindu community. Despite the severity of the attack, the state government offered a mere Rs 10 lakh as compensation.
Surya questioned who advised the Chief Minister to make such a meager announcement and whether the Chief Minister had lost all sense of humanity and reality.
He pointed out that Manjunath's family has a son who scored 97 percent in his PU exams, with many years of education ahead. Likewise, Bharat Bhushan’s family has a young child, whose mother must handle the burden of his education for the next 25 years.
He expressed concern that Islamic terrorists in Pahalgam had specifically targeted Hindu men, executing them in front of their families. These terrorists did not randomly choose tourists; they deliberately sought out Hindus, he emphasized.
Tejasvi Surya criticized those who refuse to acknowledge this harsh reality, even when the victims' families are open about it. He noted that while Asaduddin Owaisi admitted that Hindus were targeted due to their religion, Congress leaders still deny this truth.
He concluded that this refusal to acknowledge such violence exemplifies the decline of the Congress party.
State spokespersons Ashok Gowda, Mohan Vishwa, and Surabhi Hodigere were also in attendance at the press conference.
