Bengaluru, April 24 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the home of 35-year-old Bharat Bhushan in Mathikere, Bengaluru, who tragically lost his life to terrorist gunfire in Pahalgam while with his family. The CM offered heartfelt condolences, expressing that it is profoundly sad for a young, educated individual to fall victim to such violence.

He condemned the attack, labeling it a barbaric and inhumane act.

To ensure the safe return of Kannada-speaking individuals caught in Kashmir and to recover the remains of the deceased, Labour Minister Santosh Lad and his team were promptly dispatched. To date, 175 Kannadigas have returned safely to their home state.

“It is the government’s obligation to safeguard Kannadigas during challenging times,” stated the CM.

The Karnataka administration has declared a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each family of the Kannadigas who perished in the recent terror incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

“It is the government’s duty to eradicate terrorism completely. Our administration offers full support to the Centre in combating terrorist activities across the nation,” CM Siddaramaiah remarked.

“Murdering innocent individuals in broad daylight in front of their families is a despicable crime. This incident mirrors past occurrences like Pulwama and Balakot. Potential intelligence failures at the national level may have played a role in this tragedy,” he noted.

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to arrange the final rites for Manjunath Rao and Bharat Bhushan with police honors.

The victims from Karnataka include Bharat Bhushan, Manjunath Rao, and Madhusudan who had moved to Bengaluru from Andhra Pradesh. Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy visited Bharat Bhushan’s family in Bengaluru, while Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa met with Manjunath Rao’s family in Shivamogga to offer support.

In response to the terror attack in Kashmir, the Chief Minister stated that the Central government has already taken steps, and the state government will provide full assistance for further measures aimed at combating terrorism.

Bharat Bhushan had traveled to Kashmir with his wife, Dr. Sujata, a pediatrician, and their young son.

The family recounted that the group of terrorists approached Bharat and asked for his name. When he answered without fear, they instructed him to pass his son to his wife, Sujata. They then inquired about his religion, and upon his response of being a Hindu, he was shot dead.
