Jaipur, May 15 (NationPress) A suspicious drone was found on Thursday in the vicinity of the India-Pakistan border, specifically in the Anupgarh region of Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district.
The drone was located in a compromised state on property belonging to the Forest Department close to village 12A, prompting worries regarding cross-border surveillance or spying activities.
At around 9:45 a.m., local residents noticed the drone-like object and promptly notified the Anupgarh Police Station.
SHO Ishwar Jangid arrived at the scene with a police team, and the Border Security Force (BSF) was notified as well.
The area was swiftly secured, and civilians were barred from approaching the site.
Witnesses described the object as resembling a drone, measuring approximately 5 to 7 feet in length, with a damaged camera that had become separated from its structure. Its design indicates it may have been intended for reconnaissance or intelligence-gathering purposes.
According to SHO Jangid, several security agencies are currently investigating the incident.
A bomb disposal unit has also been dispatched as a safety measure. The drone will be secured and subjected to forensic and technical analysis to ascertain its origin and intended use.
The emergence of such an object near the international border is regarded as a significant security threat. Additional SP Surendra Kumar mentioned that a sheepherder had informed the village sarpanch, who subsequently alerted the police and BSF.
High-ranking officials from the police, BSF, Army, and Air Force have arrived at the site to assess the drone.
A specialized team has been assigned to investigate the drone for any explosive materials, and inquiries are ongoing to determine whether the drone was launched from across the border or inadvertently drifted into Indian territory during a military exercise.
Access to the area has been rigorously restricted while the investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, three flights that were suspended between Jaipur and Chandigarh have resumed operation as of Thursday. These flights had been halted since May 7. Additionally, flights to Kullu and Ghaziabad have also resumed.
