Agartala, Aug 2 (NationPress) The Border Security Force (BSF) is set to conduct a comprehensive analysis of a drone marked 'Made in China', which was discovered close to the India-Bangladesh border.

According to a BSF official, the drone, featuring two high-resolution cameras, will be transferred from the Tripura Police to the BSF and subsequently sent to their headquarters in Delhi for an in-depth examination.

On Friday, a meeting took place between BSF and police officials. The police had dispatched the drone to the state government's forensic science laboratory for analysis. Following the forensic examination, the police will hand the drone over to the BSF, the official stated.

The Chinese-made drone, weighing 915 grams, was found by a young boy in a paddy field near the Durgabari Border Outpost of the BSF. The boy took the drone home and cleaned it with water.

The drone was discovered in a paddy field located 650 meters from the India-Bangladesh border.

After the find, the boy's family notified the Tripura Police, who promptly seized the drone and sent it for forensic examination.

The BSF official indicated that the origin of the drone's entry into Indian territory remains uncertain.

More information will emerge following a detailed investigation, the official added.

Since unrest began in Bangladesh in June-July last year, BSF troops have increased their vigilance and fortified their presence along the International Border, particularly after the Awami League government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fell on August 5, 2024.

With an 856 km border with Bangladesh, Tripura is bordered on three sides by the neighboring country, rendering the northeastern state highly susceptible to cross-border migration, crime, and movement challenges.

Although most of the border is fenced to deter smuggling, trans-border crime, and the illegal movements of infiltrators and hostile elements, some areas remain unprotected.
