Tamilisai Soundararajan to Confer with JP Nadda in New Delhi Amid Anna University Assault Incident

Chennai, Dec 31 (NationPress) The prominent BJP figure from Tamil Nadu and ex-Governor of Telangana and Puducherry, Tamilisai Soundararajan, declared her intention to meet BJP National President J. P. Nadda in New Delhi on Tuesday. This meeting is set to discuss the recent sexual assault case at Anna University along with other significant matters pertaining to Tamil Nadu.
On December 24, a second-year engineering student was the victim of a sexual assault on the university campus.
The perpetrator attacked the victim’s male companion and subsequently raped her.
The assailant, Gnansekharan, who works as a biriyani vendor, has been apprehended for this atrocious act.
The BJP and AIADMK opposition parties have claimed that the attacker has connections to the local DMK leadership and accused the government of protecting him.
Prior to her trip, Soundararajan addressed the media at Chennai airport, condemning the Tamil Nadu government for its “failure” to protect women.
She expressed her discontent, stating that despite assertions of empowering women, there have been no substantial advancements in tackling women’s issues in the state.
Soundararajan pointed out that the BJP has been dedicated to women's empowerment in regions governed by the party, achieving commendable results.
Furthermore, she charged the DMK administration with neglecting to implement effective measures to ensure a secure environment for women.
According to her, “The DMK alliance parties appear to prioritize political power over addressing the genuine challenges faced by women”.
The BJP remains committed to voicing opposition against such incidents and working towards a safer future for women in Tamil Nadu, she affirmed.
Additionally, Soundararajan revealed that the BJP intends to appoint new state presidents nationwide within the upcoming ten days. She will be traveling to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a special officer to facilitate the election of the BJP state president there.
Moreover, she reinforced the BJP's dedication to championing the principles of B. R. Ambedkar and advocating for the rights of marginalized groups, assuring that the party will persist in striving towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
