Bareilly, March 29 (NationPress) Islamic cleric Tauqeer Raza on Saturday reiterated the designation of “betrayer” for Rajput ruler Rana Sanga, echoing a recent comment made by Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman.

During a press conference, Raza stated: “Babur didn’t come to India; he was invited to come. Babur never did any attack on India. Babur attacked Ibrahim Lodhi. But Rana Sanga was the one who deceived him (Babur). He (Rana Sanga) urged Babur to commence his invasion from Delhi, while Rana Sanga was supposed to initiate from Agra. Thus, Rana Sanga’s intention was to prompt Babur to invade India.”

Raza further accused him (Rana Sanga) of desiring Babur’s arrival solely to plunder India and devastate Delhi so that Rana Sanga could ascend to power.

“Rana Sanga violated his agreement with Babur. Furious over Rana Sanga’s betrayal, Babur attacked India. Rana Sanga deceived and betrayed his own nation,” he added.

Previously, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman, during a parliamentary session, also labeled Rana Sanga as a “betrayer,” igniting controversy.

Suman asserted that the 16th-century Rajput monarch invited Mughal ruler Babur to overthrow Ibrahim Lodi, ultimately facilitating the rise of the Mughal Empire.

The MP’s statement incited backlash, with Karni Sena activists vandalizing his Agra residence near Hari Parvat Chauraha on Wednesday.

Numerous vehicles, furnishings, and windows were damaged during the incident.

Karni Sena chief Suraj Pal Singh Amu condemned the remarks, asserting they dishonored a “hero” who triumphed over the Mughals and demanded apologies from Suman and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav.

The matter escalated into a fervent debate in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, as the ruling party strongly opposed Suman’s contentious remarks. The uproar resulted in a temporary suspension of the House proceedings.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar intervened, labeling Rana Sanga as a “hero” and emphasizing the necessity of honoring public sentiment in parliamentary discussions.
