Lucknow, Feb 24 (NationPress) In a horrifying episode in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, a 19-year-old individual is accused of fatally shooting his father, dismembering the corpse, and hiding the remains in a blue drum within their home, as reported by police on Tuesday.

The deceased, Manvendra Singh, aged 49 and owner of a pathology laboratory, was allegedly killed following a conflict with his son regarding his career direction. Investigators noted that tensions had heightened between the father and son due to pressure to pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Residents in the area mentioned that the suspect, Akshat Pratap Singh, had lodged a missing person report on February 20. When efforts to locate the man proved futile, neighbors urged the local police to intensify their investigation.

Authorities stated that the incident transpired around 4:30 a.m. on February 20, after a volatile argument erupted. In a moment of rage, Akshat reportedly used a licensed rifle to shoot his father.

Witnesses revealed that the shooting occurred in the presence of the victim's daughter, whom the accused threatened to keep silent about the event.

After committing the crime, Akshat allegedly dragged the body from the third floor to the ground floor of their residence, where he dismembered it. Some body parts were concealed in his vehicle and transported to Sadrauna, a remote area, for disposal.

Police authorities confirmed that the head was also discarded at that location, but it has not yet been found.

On Monday evening, while attempting to dispose of the torso, a police patrol allegedly stopped him due to suspicious behavior.

Following prolonged interrogation, he admitted to the murder. The torso was subsequently recovered from a blue drum in the house, while other body parts had been transported in a vehicle and discarded elsewhere.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Vikrant Veer informed IANS, "A missing person case was filed at Ashiyana police station for Manvendra Singh, who had been unaccounted for since the morning of February 20. During the inquiry, it was discovered that his son, Akshat Pratap Singh, fatally shot him with a rifle around 4:30 p.m. on the same day."

"To conceal the body and eliminate evidence, the perpetrator dismembered it and discarded some parts in various locations, while the torso was hidden on the ground floor of the residence," he added.

DCP Veer confirmed that the suspect has confessed and that further investigations are ongoing. Police reported that Akshat claimed he killed his father due to pressure to succeed in the NEET examination and pursue a medical career.

According to officials, Akshat managed a liquor store owned by his father and earned a monthly salary of Rs 17,000, but was reportedly dissatisfied. A senior officer involved in the investigation stated that a ricocheted bullet was found in the room where the shooting occurred. The rifle and bullet have been sent for forensic analysis.

Investigators revealed that Manvendra Singh wanted his son to prepare for competitive exams and follow a medical career, while Akshat opposed this plan.

The two reportedly had regular disputes over this issue, and the youth had previously left home due to similar disagreements.

On Monday evening, police executed a raid at the residence with Akshat in custody and retrieved the drum containing the dismembered remains.

Forensic teams are analyzing bloodstains discovered in the vehicle and inside the home, while search efforts are underway to locate the missing body parts.

Ongoing investigations aim to clarify the complete sequence of events.
