The deceased have been recognized as Roshan Patel (16), son of Satya Prakash Patel from Uttarwari Pokhara under Kalibagh police station, and Kuldeep Kumar (17), son of Rajesh Ram, who resided in Parbatiya Tola village under the Mufassil police station.
Witnesses reported that the incident took place when three friends decided to bathe in the canal to escape the intense heat.
Before entering the water, Roshan and Kuldeep entrusted their mobile phone to their third friend, requesting him to film their bath.
