Patna, Aug 1 (NationPress) The former Bihar Cabinet Minister and the eldest son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, announced on Friday that he will be contesting the forthcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from the Mahua constituency in the Vaishali district.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Tej Pratap stated, “We achieved victory from Mahua in 2015, and I served as the Health Minister. I established a medical college in the constituency and undertook various development projects. This is why I'm returning to contest again from there.”
It's noteworthy that in the 2020 Assembly elections, he was nominated from Hasanpur in Samastipur and emerged victorious. Following the formation of the Grand Alliance government in 2022, he was entrusted with the portfolio for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.
Tej Pratap responded carefully to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, commenting, “Such issues only surface during election time.”
When asked about his stance on Tejashwi Yadav's call for boycotting elections over the SIR, he chose to separate himself from the internal party dynamics.
“I am neither part of the party nor the organization. Inquire with Tejashwi about that matter. Those who conspired against me are under divine observation. My current focus is on youth-related issues.”

“Law and order have completely deteriorated. I doubt that JDU will regain power in Bihar,” he remarked.
He further dismissed PM Narendra Modi as an ineffective leader, stating, “Everyone has their unique approach to governance, but it’s ultimately the public who determines who is effective. I do not view him as a competent leader.”
Tej Pratap reaffirmed his allegiance to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ideology, referring to him as his “greatest leader.”
He also explained his recent visit to the Samajwadi Party (SP) office, clarifying, “I share a familial bond with Akhilesh Yadav. My visit was to meet leaders, and the media unnecessarily speculated about my joining the SP.”
