Patna, April 21 (NationPress) The President of the Bihar Congress, Akhilesh Singh, has put an end to speculation by openly endorsing RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for the Chief Ministerial role in the upcoming elections.
“Tejashwi Yadav is the leader who is unanimously recognized by the Grand Alliance and will naturally be the Chief Ministerial candidate if the INDIA Bloc emerges victorious,” Singh stated while advocating for Yadav's candidacy for the top position.
However, the Congress leadership has refrained from officially naming Tejashwi Yadav as their Chief Ministerial face, indicating that final decisions will be made post-election with a majority win.
“There’s no doubt that Tejashwi Yadav is spearheading the campaign,” Singh remarked while criticizing Nitish Kumar for his inconsistent political maneuvers.
“He only allied with the INDIA Bloc and then the BJP to retain his position,” Singh asserted, reflecting party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s previous criticisms.
In response to inquiries about the low turnout and vacant seats at Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally in Buxar, Singh dismissed the concerns.
“It was extremely sunny. People sought shade. Their enthusiasm remained strong,” he explained.
Singh also dismissed rumors of party switching, declaring, “I am a committed member of the Congress. There's no possibility of leaving the party.”
In defending Rahul Gandhi’s statement about “EVMs being rigged” made in Boston, Singh affirmed, “That’s absolutely right. The Congress has been advocating for a return to ballot voting for a long time.”
He also called for an apology from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey regarding his remarks about the Chief Justice of India, labeling it a “breach of social decorum.”
In reaction to Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s assertion that “the people of Bihar are reaching out to him,” Singh commented: “Good. Every leader should prioritize Bihar and address the issues faced by its citizens.”
