Patna, Oct 2 (NationPress) On the significant occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has taken aim at the NDA government in Bihar regarding the caste census, accusing it of hypocrisy.
In a recent social media update, Yadav reflected on October 2, 2023, the day he, as Deputy Chief Minister, unveiled the caste survey report.
“Let's commemorate that pivotal day on 2 October 2023, when I realized my long-standing commitment to conducting a caste survey in Bihar and published the report,” he expressed.
Yadav asserted that the release of this report represented a defining moment.
“By unveiling the report on this notable day, we proclaimed that the entire nation now demands a caste census and we will not tolerate any further postponement,” he stated.
In a critical remark directed at the BJP and RSS, the RJD leader mentioned, “Our efforts forced this adamant government to reconsider its stance. We exerted political and social pressure on those who consistently condemned the caste census and made disparaging remarks about it, leading them to announce a nationwide caste census. Yet, their motives and execution remain dubious.”
Tejashwi Yadav further criticized the NDA government, accusing it of betraying Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities concerning reservations.
“The anti-Dalit, backward, reservation-thieving BJP has deprived the rights of Dalits, backward, extremely backward, and tribal communities by failing to incorporate the 65 percent reservation, as recommended in our caste survey report, into the 9th Schedule of the Constitution,” Yadav claimed.
He alleged that the dual-engine government had stripped these communities of their rights.
“This anti-reservation stance by the NDA is causing significant job losses for Dalits, backwards, and tribals,” he remarked.
Reiterating his dedication, the RJD leader emphasized that his advocacy for the backward, marginalized, Dalits, exploited, and impoverished will persist until reservations are aligned with population proportions.
“Until the reservation cap surpasses the 50 percent threshold, and these communities attain genuine economic, social, and educational equity, my fight will continue. I need your backing for economic justice,” Yadav urged.
