Hyderabad, March 20 (NationPress) The Telangana Congress administration has designated Rs 50,713 crore in the 2026-27 state budget to fulfill various commitments outlined in six key guarantees. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced funding for nine initiatives tied to the six guarantees, which were part of the party's platform during the 2023 elections.
This year's allocation for the six guarantees has decreased from Rs 56,084 crore in the previous budget to Rs 50,713 crore.
The budget includes Rs 18,000 crore for the Rythu Bharosa program, which enhances annual investment support for farmers to Rs 10,000 per acre.
For the Cheyutha social security pension initiative, Rs 14,861 crore has been allocated, while Indiramma Houses received Rs 5,500 crore, a reduction from Rs 12,571 crore in the last budget.
Additionally, Rs 4,305 crore was earmarked for Mahalaxmi, which offers free travel for women on RTC buses, and Rs 2,080 crore for Gruha Jyothi, providing free electricity up to 200 units.
Vikramarka also allocated Rs 3,500 crore as bonuses for farmers' agricultural produce and Rs 1,143 crore for Rajiv Arogya Sri.
The budget includes Rs 723 crore for an LPG cylinder scheme priced at Rs 500 and Rs 600 crore for the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa program that gives Rs 12,000 annually to landless laborers.
Moreover, Rs 94,878 crore has been allocated for other significant schemes.
There is also a Rs 14,000 crore allocation for power subsidies for farmers, Rs 4,343 crore for scholarships, Rs 2,170 crore for diet charges, Rs 3,683 crore for Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak, and Rs 3,000 crore for rice subsidies.
The government has set aside Rs 5,000 crore for Young India Integrated Residential Schools, Rs 4,000 crore for the Indiramma Kutumba Jivitha Bima policy providing Rs 5 lakh life insurance for each of the 1 crore 15 lakh families, Rs 2,500 crore for interest loans for DWACRA women, and Rs 1,886 crore for crop insurance.
Presenting a comprehensive budget of Rs 3.24 lakh crore for 2026-27, Vikramarka outlined the revenue and capital expenditure at Rs 2.34 lakh crore and Rs 47,267 crore respectively.
The Finance Minister has made substantial allocations to fulfill electoral promises, focusing on agriculture, welfare for backward classes, panchayat raj, rural development, and urban administration. The funding for essential sectors remains relatively unchanged compared to the last budget.
He allocated Rs 23,179 crore for the Agriculture & Cooperation Department, Rs 21,285 crore for energy, Rs 13,679 crore for the Health, Medical & Family Welfare Department, Rs 22,615 crore for the Irrigation Department, Rs 17,907 crore for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Rs 33,688 crore for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, and Rs 11,784 crore for Scheduled Castes Development.
