Hyderabad, May 12 (NationPress) In a significant interstate operation, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has apprehended 20 individuals involved in cyber fraud activities in Gujarat, according to a senior official's announcement on Monday.
The TGCSB executed a successful special interstate operation in Surat, Gujarat, from May 1 to May 10.
Shikha Goel, director of TGCSB, reported that this operation resulted in the capture of 20 cyber fraudsters who are linked to over 60 cybercrime cases in Telangana and an astonishing 515 cases nationwide.
Two specialized teams from TGCSB were stationed in Surat for 10 days, conducting this operation under the Bureau's 'Zero Tolerance' policy against cybercrime. This marks the fifth major operation by the TGCSB Operations Wing aimed at apprehending cybercriminals, Goel stated.
The Operations Wing, which was created to implement a centralized, data-driven strategy for interstate cybercrime investigations, concentrated on seven specific cases from Telangana. These cases involved questionable cash withdrawals, including transactions made through cheques.
The teams arrested 14 mule account holders and six agents. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects managed 27 mule accounts with dubious transactions totaling Rs 4.37 crore. In Telangana alone, five suspects withdrew Rs 22,64,500 via cheques.
The arrested individuals include private sector employees, businesspeople, and one bank employee (a Relationship Manager at DCB Bank, Vapi branch). They were engaged in various cyber fraud schemes, including business and investment scams as well as trading and part-time job frauds.
The authorities confiscated 20 mobile phones, eight SIM cards, four ATM cards, five cheque books, two PAN cards, two rubber stamps, and several other incriminating documents.
Shikha Goel mentioned that all apprehended individuals were transported back to Telangana on transit warrants and are currently held in different jails. Ongoing investigations aim to locate and detain the remaining suspects.
The primary goal of this operation was to dismantle the network of illicit bank accounts facilitating cybercrimes. TGCSB is devoted to conducting more such focused operations throughout the country to ensure Telangana becomes a cyber-secure state, as emphasized by the Director.
The real-time technical support team at TGCSB headquarters collaborated continuously with field officers to guarantee seamless coordination and execution.
