Hyderabad, March 12 (NationPress) The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) is currently investigating to identify individuals responsible for the trafficking of 24 residents from the state under the pretense of fake job opportunities abroad.
These 24 individuals are part of a larger group of 540 Indians who were rescued from cyber scam operations in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and repatriated by the Central government.
The rescued individuals were returned to Delhi in two separate groups: 283 in the initial group and 257 in the subsequent one, on March 10 and 11, respectively.
As stated by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, 24 of the rescued individuals hail from Telangana. Fourteen of them arrived in Hyderabad from Delhi on March 11. The remaining 10 are expected to reach Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The police official indicated that TGCSB is actively pursuing the case to pinpoint those responsible for trafficking these individuals under the guise of attractive job propositions abroad. Legal action will be initiated against any person or organization implicated in these deceptive recruitment practices, she noted.
Director Goel urged the public to be vigilant when considering overseas job offers, particularly those that promise high wages with minimal qualifications.
Before traveling abroad for employment, it is crucial for individuals to verify job offers through official channels, such as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) via the website http://emigrate.gov.in. They should also obtain a written contract from the foreign employer prior to departure. Citizens are advised to be wary of unusual job descriptions.
"If you or someone you know has fallen victim to fraudulent overseas job offers, please report it immediately to 1930 or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in," the TGCSB stated.
Previously, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay mentioned that at least 42 of those rescued and brought back are from the Telugu states.
The MEA has indicated that these individuals were enticed with fraudulent job offers and subsequently sold to bogus call centers involved in cyber fraud in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
