Hyderabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has successfully processed refunds exceeding Rs 350 crore for individuals affected by cyber fraud.
TGCSB director Shikha Goel announced on Tuesday that since its establishment as a fully operational bureau, TGCSB has managed 2.44 lakh NCRP (National Cybercrime Reporting Portal) complaints, filed 58,244 FIRs, and facilitated refunds of over Rs 350 crore to cyber fraud victims.
Highlighting the state’s significant progress, she noted that while cybercrime incidents in India surged by 29 percent, Telangana experienced a 8 percent decrease, with financial losses diminishing by 30 percent in contrast to a national average of 6 percent.
This achievement is attributed to comprehensive reforms, including enhancements to the 1930 helpline, improvements to the ‘Put on Hold’ mechanism, and the development of a model refund system in partnership with the High Court.
Shikha Goel made these remarks during the launch of the “Fraud Ka Full Stop” initiative—a statewide cyber awareness campaign led by TGCSB.
The six-week intensive program aims to combat cyber fraud and equip citizens with essential digital safety skills.
Shikha Goel stressed that Telangana has established one of the most robust, data-centric cybercrime response systems in India.
She characterized ‘Fraud Ka Full Stop’ as a community-driven movement that integrates physical outreach with digital interactions. Each week of the six-week campaign will focus on specific themes related to cyber fraud, including 1930 reporting, digital arrest, investment scams, hacking threats, identity theft, and safety for women and children.
She urged citizens to get involved and prioritize cyber safety in their daily routines.
The Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy underscored the necessity of treating cybercrime as a fundamental policing priority across all departments. He reiterated the Chief Minister’s directives for robust cybercrime management and called on district officers to maintain close cooperation with TGCSB during the six-week initiative.
He instructed that awareness programs be organized at police stations, SDPOs, and district levels, and outlined the weekly themes of the campaign, emphasizing the need to educate the public about prevalent tactics such as digital arrest, investment fraud, impersonation, OTP-related scams, loan app harassment, and social media extortion.
