Hyderabad, April 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, has instructed officials to hasten the progress of the Musi River Rejuvenation project on Friday.
During a review meeting concerning the project, the Chief Minister assessed the designs for the bridge to be constructed over the Mir Alam Tank and the Gandhi Sarovar at Bapughat, both integral components of the Musi initiative.
Officials have been directed to call for tenders for the construction of the Mir Alam Tank bridge in June, while also ensuring the survey for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), designs, and proposals for the Musi rejuvenation project is completed promptly.
The officials presented a PowerPoint showcasing the model designs created by consulting firms for the Mir Alam Tank bridge.
“Construct the bridge over a length of 2.5 km in an impressive way and prioritize the safety of both visitors and travelers in finalizing the designs,” the Chief Minister advised the officials.
In addition to the bridge, the beautification of three island-like areas in Mir Alam Tank will be initiated to draw more tourists.
CM Revanth Reddy recommended developing the three islands into a remarkable tourist destination akin to Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, featuring a bird's paradise and waterfalls.
Plans for the project will also include convention centers suitable for wedding venues, adventure parks, a theme park, and an amphitheater. Additionally, accommodations such as resorts and hotels will be established along the Musi, complete with boating options for visitors.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of preparing the DPR with comprehensive proposals for island development, alongside a plan for purifying the tank's water. He instructed officials to formulate proposals for the island zone utilizing the PPP model.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister requested an early assessment of water availability in the Mir Alam Tank and the intensity of water flow during floods, emphasizing that designs must be made to prevent potential future issues. A survey with hydrology and environmental experts or respected organizations in the field should be conducted for this project, and all necessary permissions should be secured based on those findings, the CM stated.
During the meeting, the development of a network linking the island zone to the adjacent Nehru Zoological Park was also discussed. The CM mandated officials to enhance the Zoo Park in line with the new proposal.
Officials were instructed to explore all options for upgrading the Zoo Park in consultation with zoo authorities while adhering to regulations.
Government advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Municipal Department Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, the CM’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, Musi River Development Corporation Joint Managing Director Gauthami, and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
