Hyderabad, March 6 (NationPress) Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of Telangana announced on Friday the initiative to enhance night-tourism alongside the Musi river in Hyderabad.
He emphasized the government's intention to develop a vibrant Musi riverfront.
According to him, promoting night tourism along the riverbanks aims to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
His remarks came during the grand opening of the Eco Hill Park located at Kothwalguda.
During this event, the Chief Minister also laid the groundwork for the Radial Road–2 interchange, which will link to the Budwel Layout, focusing on improving road connectivity and urban infrastructure within the area.
Revanth Reddy defended the Musi Riverfront project against ongoing critiques from opposition parties such as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, who argue that the initiative could displace many residents.
He pointed out that living conditions near the polluted Musi river are undesirable.
While acknowledging that development projects can disrupt certain communities, he assured that the state government would stand by those impacted.
"Individuals who lose their land or homes due to these projects will receive comprehensive support and rehabilitation services for their displaced families," he stated.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to rejuvenating the city's landscape and aspiring to elevate it to one of the premier cities globally.
"When we endeavor to enhance the city, there are always detractors who argue against progress, suggesting that if they could not achieve it, no one else should either," he added.
He noted that public representatives have been sent to explore international urban development models to incorporate the best practices into Hyderabad's planning.
Recalling the inception of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, he mentioned that despite initial opposition, it has become a vital asset for both the city and the state.
Furthermore, he announced that Shamshabad is set to become a Bullet train hub, proposing high-speed rail connections from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Amaravati, and Chennai.
Revanth Reddy asserted that Hyderabad will be developed to compete with major global cities, with significant interest from leading international corporations eyeing investment opportunities in the region.
He remarked that companies linked to global figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk are considering entering the Hyderabad market.
Highlighting Hyderabad's status as one of the most picturesque cities in India, he expressed confidence in its potential to evolve into a world-class city with visionary governance.
He firmly stated that no other city in India rivals Hyderabad's beauty and that the government is committed to enhancing its global reputation.
In his address, he recalled how the former Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy facilitated the flow of Krishna and Godavari river waters into Hyderabad, significantly boosting the city's water supply.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the Nizam's administration in implementing flood-control systems on the Musi river, designed by the esteemed engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The Nizam regime also contributed by planting medicinal flora in the Vikarabad area.
Emphasizing the city's rich heritage, the Chief Minister pointed out that Hyderabad is home to numerous historical sites, including Osmania Hospital, Golconda Fort, and the State Assembly building, which are testaments to its illustrious past.
However, he expressed concern over the challenges posed by encroachments and waste accumulation that have plagued Hyderabad over the years.
