Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 23 (NationPress) Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed on Monday that every family affected by the Musi Riverfront development initiative will receive proper rehabilitation.
While addressing the Legislative Council, the Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive plan for the Musi's enhancement and guaranteed that no displaced individual would be left homeless. He emphasized, "We will ensure that not a single person living near Musi becomes homeless and we won't bring harm to anyone," urging political factions to cease the dissemination of misleading information about the Musi project.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced the government's intention to establish a Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, which will include IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, specifically for the Musi Rejuvenation Project.
While inviting feedback from opposition parties, he noted their hesitation in submitting suggestions directly to him and mentioned the formation of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to facilitate this.
The CM criticized the former BRS government for neglecting the Musi project, questioning Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao's assertions about the Musi River Development Corporation and accusing the BRS of politicizing the initiative.
He revealed that the government has received approval from the Airports Authority of India to create an underpass road at Begumpet Airport, which will be the first of its kind in India, aiming to enhance traffic flow.
Additionally, efforts have been made to remove encroachments from sidewalks to protect citizens, and designated areas have been allocated for street vendors. A multi-level car parking facility has been constructed near KBR Park to address parking issues, and work is ongoing on elevated corridors along the Nalgonda and Vijayawada routes.
The Chief Minister underlined the vision for Telangana Rising 2047, focusing on the development of the PURE, CURE, and RARE regions to foster sustainable growth and economic progress across Telangana. "An industrial corridor covering 10,000 square kilometers will also be established," he stated.
He pointed out that cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru are grappling with rising air pollution, traffic congestion, floods, and other civic challenges. While Hyderabad is celebrated as the "City of Rocks and Lakes," it faces its own set of challenges despite its rich historical legacy, which includes landmarks like the Charminar, Gulzar Houz, and the Legislative Council building.
Revanth Reddy acknowledged that even with Hyderabad's illustrious past, the city is now confronting significant issues. In light of the dramatic increase in vehicle population, he highlighted the necessity for adequate parking facilities to manage the burgeoning demand.
In addition to enhancing the Secunderabad and Cherlapally railway stations, the CM announced that Metro rail expansion will commence shortly. "After talks with L&T, we have decided to take over the Metro project. The previous Metro rail lacked last-mile connectivity, and we proposed its expansion, which received a favorable response from the Union government," he added.
To improve livability in Hyderabad, CM Revanth Reddy stated that relocating polluting industries outside the ORR will free up land for the middle class. This initiative is part of the HILT policy aimed at preventing air pollution levels in Hyderabad from reaching those seen in Delhi. The government is also reclassifying land use from industrial to multi-use zones.
Lastly, the Chief Minister shared ambitious plans to build an elevated corridor through the city center along the Musi River, extending from Gandipet to Gourelli. This corridor promises to significantly reduce travel time over the 40-kilometer stretch from Gandipet to Gourelli.
