Hyderabad, Sep 25 (NationPress) The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has unveiled the names of candidates who have been provisionally selected for Group-I posts.

This announcement comes after the release of the General Ranking List (GRL) on March 30, 2025. A total of 562 positions were filled from the 563 posts for which the Main examination took place between October 21 and October 27, 2024.

One position remains unfilled due to directives from the High Court regarding an ongoing case.

The Commission emphasized that the results published on its website are contingent upon the results of the Writ Appeal or any other pending Writ Petitions in the Telangana High Court.

The TGPSC released the list of provisionally selected candidates shortly after midnight, following a stay by the Telangana High Court on a single-judge bench's ruling, which had annulled the Group-I Main examination results and mandated a manual re-evaluation of all answer scripts.

A division bench of the High Court, led by Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, permitted TGPSC to proceed with the appointments for Group-I posts based on the current results.

The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for October 16, with the understanding that the appointments will depend on the final ruling.

This interim order arose from TGPSC's appeal against the single-judge's September 9 ruling.

Justice Namavarapu Rajeswara Rao had set aside the general ranking list and the selected candidates' list, ordering the Commission to manually re-evaluate all answer scripts using a moderation process as per the Supreme Court's guidelines.

The single judge's order was based on petitions from some candidates, who alleged irregularities in the conduct of the elections and the evaluation process.

He instructed the TSPSC to finalize the re-evaluation and declare results within eight months, failing which the Main exams would be annulled, necessitating a re-exam for all candidates who had passed the Prelims.

In its appeal, the Commission contended that the single judge's decision was flawed, contrary to legal standards, and neglected vital evidence presented to the court.

Approximately 30,000 students participated in the Group 1 Mains exams conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) from October 21 to 27, 2024, to fill 563 Group-I posts across various departments.

A total of 31,383 candidates applied for the exams, qualifying for the Group-1 Mains from around 3.02 lakh who appeared for the preliminary examination in June.

This marks the first instance of Group-I Mains exams being conducted since the establishment of Telangana State, with the last exams being held in 2011 in united Andhra Pradesh.

The results for the Main exam were made public on March 10, followed by the release of a general ranking list and the list of selected candidates.

The Group-1 prelims have faced controversies, including issues related to paper leaks and legal disputes concerning adherence to norms and irregularities in 2022 and 2023.
