'Telangana CM Celebrates Supreme Court's Support for Group I Recruitment'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, expressed his satisfaction on Friday regarding the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the recruitment of 563 individuals for Group I positions within the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this ruling serves as a testament to his government's commitment to transparency and integrity in job recruitment practices.
This decision brings significant relief to Group-1 hopefuls who have endured years of uncertainty, relying on their parents' hard work while living in a state of anxiety about their future employment. They have spent nearly a decade in hopeful anticipation, as noted by the Chief Minister in his statement.
The CM highlighted that upon taking office, his people-focused administration promptly released the recruitment notification, held the exams, and distributed appointment letters within just a few months. “By overcoming the schemes of those who sought to hinder this recruitment process, we have empowered our youth to actively participate in the reconstruction of our state as the inaugural batch of Group-1 officers. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to them once more,” he stated.
He also offered special kudos to the Chairman, members, and staff of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC). In line with the government’s mission, they undertook a thorough reform of the TGPSC framework, restored the faith of the unemployed youth in this institution, and executed the recruitment process with utmost transparency, he added.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed multiple petitions that challenged the recruitment of 563 candidates by the TGPSC for Group-1 roles.
The apex court, while affirming the previous order of the Telangana High Court, turned down the series of petitions against TGPSC.
A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Vikram Nath and accompanied by Justice Sandeep Mehta, opted not to intervene with the High Court's order from February 5.
Previously, a division bench of the Telangana High Court had overturned a ruling made by a single judge, which had annulled the results and merit list.
On September 9, 2025, the single judge had instructed the TGPSC to either manually reassess all answer sheets or conduct fresh examinations within eight months, citing “significant errors” in the evaluation process.
The TGPSC was ordered to complete the re-evaluation and results declaration within eight months; otherwise, the Main exams would be canceled, and a re-exam would be mandated for all candidates who passed the Prelims.
Nevertheless, the division bench suspended this order, allowing the TGPSC to proceed with issuing appointment letters to the successful candidates for Group-I posts based on the results.
The bench clarified that the appointments would be contingent upon the final verdict.
Following the division bench's interim ruling, the TGPSC published the list of provisionally selected candidates according to the General Ranking List (GRL) released on March 30, 2025.
The Commission announced the names of candidates selected for 563 positions, for which the Main examination took place from October 21 to October 27, 2024.
