Hyderabad, January 22 (NationPress) - The Telangana High Court has announced a delay in delivering its judgment regarding the appeals contesting a single judge’s decision that nullified the results and merit list of the Group-1 services main examination conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC).

A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin has rescheduled the verdict announcement to February 5.

The court informed the involved parties that the judgment document was incomplete, leading to the postponement until the specified date.

The hearings concluded on December 31, 2025, with the court reserving its ruling.

The appeals were filed by the TGPSC and several selected candidates against a ruling by Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao, which had invalidated the final scorecard and General Ranking List for the Group-1 Mains exam.

In his ruling on September 9, the single judge mandated the TGPSC to either reassess all answer sheets manually or conduct fresh examinations within eight months, citing significant flaws in the evaluation process.

The TGPSC was tasked with completing the re-evaluation and releasing results within this eight-month timeframe; otherwise, the Main exams would be annulled, necessitating a retest for all candidates who cleared the preliminaries.

Nonetheless, the division bench suspended this directive, allowing the TGPSC to go ahead with issuing appointment letters to successful candidates for Group-I roles based on the results.

The bench clarified that these appointments would be contingent on the final judgment.

Following the interim order from the division bench, the TGPSC disclosed the list of candidates provisionally selected as per the General Ranking List announced on March 30, 2025.

The Commission disclosed that candidates were selected for 562 out of 563 positions for which the Main examination took place from October 21 to October 27, 2024.

One position remains unfilled due to a High Court ruling in an ongoing case.

Approximately 30,000 candidates participated in the Group 1 Mains exams held from October 21 to 27, 2024, aiming to fill 563 Group-I positions across various sectors.

A total of 31,383 individuals applied for these exams, having qualified from around 302,000 who sat for the preliminary examinations in June.

This was the inaugural occurrence of Group-I Mains exams since the establishment of Telangana, with the last being held in 2011 during the unified Andhra Pradesh era.

The results of the Main exam were declared on March 10, followed by the release of a general ranking list and a selection list.

The Group-1 preliminaries faced controversies involving paper leaks and legal disputes over procedural compliance and irregularities in 2022 and 2023.
