Hyderabad, Feb 18 (NationPress) Telangana's Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar conducted a review of the preparations for the Muslim holy month of Ramazan on Tuesday. The minister convened a high-level meeting with senior officials from various departments at the B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat and urged all officials to collaborate effectively and implement necessary measures to provide enhanced facilities for worshippers during Ramazan.
He highlighted the importance of uninterrupted electricity supply, clean water distribution, garbage disposal, and other vital services in prominent mosques, key intersections, and throughout the city.
The minister remarked that the Telangana government is dedicated not only to Hyderabad but also to other Muslim-majority regions within the state, ensuring adequate arrangements during Ramazan.
Attendees of the meeting included Chief Minister’s Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Hyderabad MLAs Ahmed Balala, Jaffar Hussain Meraj, Mozam Khan, Mohammed Majid Hussain, and others, along with Tafseer Iqbal, Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department, and Faheem Qureshi, Vice Chairman of TMREIS.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister’s Advisor for Minority Affairs expressed appreciation to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for issuing a Government Order (GO) that permits Muslim employees to leave work an hour early during Ramazan.
He also supported the possibility of another GO allowing businesses and shops to stay open late during the holy month, indicating that such a directive from the Labour Department would support business operations during Ramazan.
He stressed that this provision should extend beyond Hyderabad to other cities, with appropriate instructions issued to the Police Department. Additionally, he emphasized the need to replace carpets in Mecca Masjid and Shahi Masjid, and to assess the functionality of CCTV cameras around major mosques.
The Secretary of Minority Welfare directed subordinate officers to ensure the enhancement of essential services in both Hyderabad and across the state during Ramazan. Officials from the Electricity Department, Municipal Administration, Labour Department, Police Department, and other relevant agencies shared updates on the actions taken thus far.
Prabhakar acknowledged the concerns raised by public representatives and instructed senior officials to take appropriate measures. He reiterated that the Telangana government is committed to treating all citizens with equality and compassion, and the initiatives to improve essential services during Ramazan reflect this belief.
He also noted that the Roads and Buildings Department and other agencies have completed significant road construction and repair work, with remaining tasks expected to be finalized shortly.
