Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Chief of the Indian Army, General Upendra Dwivedi, reported that there are currently eight active terrorist camps, with two located near the International Border (IB) and six positioned across the Line of Control (LoC). Security forces are actively monitoring these sites.
During the annual press conference of the Indian Army, Gen Dwivedi responded to an IANS query, stating, "Our intelligence indicates that these eight terrorist camps remain operational, including two at the IB and six across the LoC. We suspect ongoing presence or training, prompting us to maintain vigilant surveillance. Should any hostile actions arise, we are prepared to respond accordingly."
He noted that both nations have gradually reduced forward movements since Operation Sindoor, yet ongoing vigilance is crucial.
"Our intelligence operations will continue to remain active as Operation Sindoor is still in effect. We have taken the necessary preparations for any situation that may arise," he affirmed.
He expressed confidence in India's security progress by 2025, emphasizing that Operation Sindoor showcased India's preparedness, precision, and strategic clarity.
"The past year has witnessed a significant uptick in global armed conflicts. This highlights a core truth — nations that remain prepared are the ones that succeed. In this context, Operation Sindoor serves as India's calculated and firm reaction to cross-border terrorism, underscoring our readiness, precision, and strategic clarity," he explained.
Gen Dwivedi described the situation along the northwestern Front as stable yet requiring constant surveillance. He noted that high-level communications, renewed engagements, and confidence-building measures are aiding in the gradual normalization of conditions, facilitating activities like grazing and hydrotherapy camps along the Northern Borders.
With a strategic focus on this area, he confirmed that India's deployment along the Line of Actual Control is balanced and robust, with ongoing capability development and infrastructure improvements through a comprehensive governmental strategy.
Recalling India's decisive response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Gen Dwivedi stated that a clear and firm decision was made at the highest levels.
"Operation Sindoor was meticulously planned and executed within a 22-minute initiation on May 7, followed by an orchestration spanning 88 hours until May 10. This operation reset strategic assumptions by conducting deep strikes, dismantling terror infrastructures, and challenging long-standing nuclear rhetoric," he elaborated.
He highlighted the Army's success in destroying seven of nine targets and emphasized its crucial role in ensuring a measured response to actions by Pakistan.
General Dwivedi commended the proactive involvement of all national stakeholders, including CAPFs, intelligence agencies, civic organizations, state administrations, and various ministries such as MHA, MEITY, and Railways.
"Operation Sindoor exemplifies the best of tri-service collaboration under straightforward political directives and the freedom to act decisively," he concluded.
