Mumbai, April 3 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray criticized the BJP administration on Thursday, asserting that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, is aimed at seizing Waqf Board properties. Thackeray stated, “Our fight is against corruption, not the Bill.”
He further accused the government of introducing the Bill to distract from the US reciprocal tariffs imposed on India.
Thackeray remarked, “The Waqf Board Amendment Bill was presented yesterday by Kiren Rijiju, who has previously expressed support for beef consumption. Are you going to teach us the ideologies of Balasaheb Thackeray? You label us as anti-Hindu?”
“You claim this is a Bill for the benefit of Muslims, yet you are including non-Muslims on that Board. We proposed amendments to the Bill prior to its introduction, but you proceeded unilaterally,” Thackeray explained.
Thackeray challenged the BJP to remove the green color from their flag, adding, “We are against corruption, not the Bill. These properties are at risk of being confiscated and handed over to your associates.”
He stated, “The BJP aligned with Muslims in a manner that would embarrass Jinnah. You accuse us of abandoning Hindutva, but what did you forsake yesterday?”
“I’m confused by the BJP’s actions. One moment they call for digging up Aurangzeb’s grave, then suddenly there are orders from above to halt the digging.”
“Our previous experience indicates that the BJP speaks one way but acts otherwise.”
“We supported them when Article 370 was revoked. When countless Kashmiri Pandits were displaced, Balasaheb Thackeray provided them refuge.”
“Years have passed since the removal of Article 370. How much land has been returned to Kashmiri Pandits? BJP leaders and Home Minister Amit Shah need to clarify this.”
“There has been no position taken on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. No discussions about China’s aggression are taking place,” Thackeray remarked.
Thackeray asserted that the BJP-led government should have informed the nation about the US tariffs.
He emphasized that the government ought to have communicated what measures had been taken and discussed the implications of the tariffs on the nation.
“During the Corona crisis, I served as Chief Minister while PM Modi worked from home and held video conferences with us. If PM Modi had taken similar steps to inform us about the US tariffs, we would have supported him.”
“The Waqf Bill was introduced to prevent us from learning about America’s tariffs on us,” he claimed.
