Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) Shiv Sena UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday criticized the BJP over the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign, dubbing the ruling party's initiative as ‘Saugat-e-Power’.

“The BJP has condemned me for moving away from Hindutva after the Muslim community supported our party. The hypocrisy of the BJP has been laid bare with the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ initiative. PM Modi claimed during the Lok Sabha campaign that Muslims would steal the mangalsutra. Is the mangalsutra of Hindus safe now? It is not a ‘Saugat-e-Modi’, but ‘Saugat-e-Power’,” stated Uddhav Thackeray while addressing a press conference following the conclusion of the Maharashtra Budget session.

Thackeray further asserted that the BJP has evidently forsaken Hindutva to attract the Muslim community, adding that those who claim victory will be distributing ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ with the elections in mind.

“Is the gift solely focused on the Bihar elections, or will it extend to future elections as well? We advised the BJP to eliminate the green color from the Tricolor, but they did not heed our advice,” he remarked.

Thackeray also launched a pointed attack against the MahaYuti government, asserting that despite its significant majority, it presented a meaningless Budget without delivering on a single promise made during the Assembly elections.

“The Budget session was merely a facade to mask its failures. The ordinary citizen has not benefited from the Budget, which included numerous announcements. The government had pledged a 100-day resolution, yet it remains unclear how many directives were issued to which department. The rate of farmers' suicides continues to rise. Farmers are not receiving guaranteed prices,” he expressed.

He highlighted additional issues such as the attraction of foreign universities, but noted that no comprehensive solution plan was included in the Budget.

“What transpired in 100 days? A sarpanch from Beed was murdered, Somnath Suryavanshi was killed. The Swargate rape case occurred. There is a road scam in Mumbai. What happened to the loan waiver? They were supposed to increase the funds for their favored sisters. Journalist Prashant Koratkar (who disrespected Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) was located; will he face punishment? Rahul Solapurkar (who also made offensive remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) is still free. The issue of communal riots in Nagpur is also alarming,” he stated while enumerating the government’s shortcomings across various issues.

The Shiv Sena UBT Chief also expressed support for stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra and his satirical song, referring to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a ‘traitor’, which led to the Shiv Sena activists vandalizing the studio.

“Shiv Sena is united; I do not subscribe to the faction of traitors within Shiv Sena (without naming Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde),” he remarked.

Thackeray criticized Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the Nagpur riots, emphasizing that this is occurring despite the government holding a substantial majority.

Regarding the Disha Salian death case, Thackeray stated, “What can I comment on a case I have no ties to? A matter I am unfamiliar with?”

Commenting on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) using Balasaheb Thackeray’s image, he remarked that everyone now recognizes that there is no alternative to Balasaheb Thackeray’s leadership.

“Now all parties have begun to utilize Balasaheb Thackeray’s image because they understand there is no other alternative,” he noted.

Thackeray condemned the MahaYuti government for failing to appoint the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly before the Budget session concluded.

“The legislature session has ended, yet the Leader of the Opposition has not been appointed. This is what we call a grip on power. We have informed the Governor how your government is stifling the people's voice,” he mentioned, lamenting that the Leader of the Opposition position, which is constitutional, has been left unfilled.

Shiv Sena UBT had nominated senior legislator Bhaskar Jadhav for the Leader of the Opposition position. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has passed the responsibility to Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar.

Thackeray also reminded the BJP-led MahaYuti government about the construction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in the Arabian Sea.

“The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Devendra Fadnavis's first term as Chief Minister. It is regrettable that we must remind the government,” he concluded.
