New Delhi, Sep 6 (NationPress) A significant international narcotics syndicate with connections to Thailand and Dubai was dismantled, leading to the arrest of six individuals involved in drug trafficking from Delhi, Hyderabad, and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities recovered over 5.7 kg of Cannabis and Ocean Grown (OG) Ganja, according to a statement from a Delhi Police official.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, New Delhi, Harsh Indora, disclosed that the syndicate procured OG Ganja from Bangkok at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh per kilogram, retailing it in the Delhi-NCR region for Rs 6–7 lakh per kilogram.
The funds were allegedly funneled to a cartel member based in Dubai, with police also seizing three vehicles and two passports. The well-structured syndicate was reportedly overseen by Anil Kumar Singh, who operated from Thailand, alongside Ishan, based in Dubai.
DCP Indora stated that Anil Kumar Singh (37), a native of Azamgarh, was apprehended in Hyderabad on September 1. Previously based in Bangkok, he sourced OG Ganja through local contacts and dispatched it to carriers recruited by Ishan.
Following Anil’s lead, a raid at his home village in Azamgarh resulted in the recovery of 2.029 kg of OG Ganja from his vehicle, as reported by the police.
Previously, Anil faced arrest in January 2025 for possessing two passports at IGI Airport under the Passport Prevention Act.
Among those arrested were travel operator Mehraj Khan (42) from Tilak Nagar, West Delhi, and visa agent Pratap Singh (32) from Nilothi, both school dropouts apprehended near a Delhi hotel on August 26 with 3.708 kg of OG Ganja.
Other detainees include property dealer Surjeet Singh (34) from Chander Vihar, who facilitated carriers for Anil, and auto driver Rajwant Singh (49) from Nihal Vihar, arrested from Chander Vihar.
In total, six suspects were taken into custody, with 5.737 kg of OG Ganja recovered, alongside vehicles and passports.
DCP Indora emphasized that Anil, along with associates Mehraj Khan and Pratap Singh, orchestrated the operation from abroad, enticing carriers with promises of overseas trips, lucrative rewards, and commissions.
From Bangkok, local suppliers handed sealed packages of OG Ganja to carriers, who would then contact Mehraj Khan and Pratap Singh upon returning to airports in Amritsar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Delhi.
These intermediaries coordinated with delivery agents for further distribution across the Delhi-NCR area. The syndicate functioned on a profit-sharing arrangement, as per police reports.
