Three Individuals Arrested with Cash and Jan Suraj Party Materials in Sitamarhi, Bihar

Patna, Dec 4 (NationPress) The police have apprehended three individuals following the interception of a vehicle loaded with a considerable amount of cash, Jan Suraj Party pamphlets, and various election-related materials in Bihar's Sitamarhi, according to officials on Wednesday.
The vehicle, identified as a white car displaying a "Bharat Sarkar" sticker, was halted during a routine vehicle inspection in the Dumra police station area on Tuesday night, as part of enhanced security measures leading up to the Tirhut MLC elections.
Manoj Kumar Tiwari, the SP of Sitamarhi police, verified the event, stating: "During vehicle inspections, police stopped a white car marked with 'Bharat Sarkar'. Inside, we discovered Rs 1.52 lakh in cash, pamphlets, and other election-related materials. Three individuals have been detained, and interrogation is currently ongoing. The detained individuals claimed affiliation with the Jan Suraj party."
While there are concerns that this money could be aimed at swaying voters, the police have yet to confirm this speculation. This action demonstrates the Sitamarhi police's proactive stance on safeguarding the integrity of the elections by preventing possible breaches such as vote-buying.
Investigations are continuing to ascertain the source and intent of the confiscated items, and the detained suspects remain under investigation, as stated by officials.
The Tirhut MLC election, set for December 5, is shaping up to be a competitive race featuring Abhishek Jha from the JD(U), Gopi Kishan from the RJD, and Dr. Vinayak Gautam from the Jan Suraj Party.
Gautam carries a significant political lineage, being the son of former MLC Ramkumar Singh and the grandson of former Bihar Minister Raghunath Pandey.
This background adds a layer of intrigue to the election, making it a highly monitored event.
The district administration has instituted rigorous security measures to guarantee free and fair elections. A total of 54 polling stations have been set up throughout the district, including four polling booths in the headquarters, two in the city, and two booths in each block.
“The district administration is committed to conducting fair and free elections,” Tiwari noted.
The Tirhut MLC seat is witnessing fierce competition, with candidates possessing profound political ties, such as Vinayak Gautam, adding historical and emotional significance for the electorate.
