Chennai, July 7 (NationPress) Heightened security measures have been implemented throughout the Tiruvarur district as Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to visit the area for two days, on July 9 and 10.
The Tiruvarur District Police have designated all thoroughfares that the Chief Minister’s convoy is anticipated to traverse as “red zone” areas, thereby restricting movement and activities within these zones due to security considerations.
In a statement released on Monday, District Collector V. Mohanachandran announced that the use of civil remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and drones is strictly forbidden during the Chief Minister’s visit.
These restrictions align with standard VVIP security protocols, as Stalin’s convoy will navigate multiple regions within the district.
According to the schedule, Chief Minister Stalin is expected to arrive in Tiruvarur from Chennai via Tiruchirappalli on the evening of July 9. His first stop will be the Kalaignar Memorial at Kattur, located on the outskirts of Tiruvarur town, where he will pay respects to his late father and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
After visiting the memorial, Stalin will conduct a roadshow in Tiruvarur town that same night. He will spend the night at his family home in Tiruvarur.
On July 10, he is scheduled to attend an event organized by the district administration, where benefits of various welfare schemes will be distributed to eligible recipients. This program will also highlight the recent accomplishments of the DMK-led government in the area. This visit forms part of Stalin’s broader outreach initiative across Tamil Nadu, which has included recent visits to districts such as Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Nagapattinam.
In these districts, he has inaugurated new development projects, engaged with local communities, and overseen the distribution of welfare aid.
The Chief Minister’s roadshows have been drawing large crowds, especially in districts that hold political and sentimental significance for the DMK. Tiruvarur, being the birthplace of Karunanidhi and a stronghold of the DMK, is of particular importance.
This visit is anticipated to further strengthen the party’s grassroots presence ahead of crucial local body and assembly elections.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security measures and refrain from using drones in the restricted zones during the two-day visit.
