Chennai, June 23 (NationPress) The Vellore district administration has officially designated the area as a “no-fly zone” for June 25 and 26 due to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's upcoming visit to the district.
As stated in an official press release from District Collector V.R. Subbulaxmi, all forms of non-conventional aerial activities, including drone operations, will be strictly forbidden during these two days.
This directive is part of a larger set of enhanced security measures accompanying the Chief Minister’s visit, during which he is set to inaugurate the recently refurbished British-era Pentland Multi-Speciality Hospital located within Vellore Corporation limits and provide welfare assistance to various beneficiaries.
The Collector cautioned that any unauthorized operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or other aerial devices could result in the immediate confiscation or destruction of the equipment by the district police.
“Any individual or civil agency found in violation of the no-fly order will face strict consequences under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” the press release emphasized.
Officials reiterated that the operation of drones—whether conducted by private citizens, government departments, or commercial entities—is tightly regulated by the guidelines established by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Any exceptions must receive explicit prior approval from the appropriate authorities.
This initiative aims to safeguard both dignitaries and the general public during the Chief Minister’s engagements, expected to draw large crowds and significant administrative activity.
Authorities confirmed that security measures have been further bolstered, considering the strategic importance of the Chief Minister’s schedule in the district.
The two-day visit will encompass multiple events and interactions with beneficiaries of welfare schemes, necessitating increased surveillance and airspace restrictions. Residents and agencies in Vellore are encouraged to cooperate with the administration and avoid the use of drones or similar aerial devices during the specified period to prevent legal repercussions and ensure the successful execution of official programs.
