Chennai, Sep 11 (NationPress) Due to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's two-day visit to Krishnagiri district, local authorities have enacted a temporary restriction on the use of civilian drones, citing security concerns. A press release from the Krishnagiri District Collector's office indicated that the Chief Minister will engage in a series of official and investment-related activities on Thursday and Friday.
His schedule includes stops at various locations in Hosur and Krishnagiri towns, including Taneja Aerospatiale and Aviation Limited in Belagondanahalli, Elcot IT Park in Nallur, Anand Grand Palace in Hosur, Delta Institute in Gurubarapalli, and the Government Arts College in Krishnagiri.
To guarantee the safety of the Chief Minister and to facilitate the smooth execution of these events, the administration has instituted a ban on drone flights within a two-kilometre radius of each venue throughout Thursday and Friday until the completion of the CM’s appointments.
The Collector’s office cautioned that any breach of this directive will result in severe legal repercussions. Offenders may be prosecuted under the Tamil Nadu Police Act, 2013, and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The announcement emphasized that no individual or organization will be allowed to operate drones over or near the designated event areas during this timeframe.
The administration has also called upon both public and private entities to assist with these security measures. “To ensure public safety and the Chief Minister’s security, the operation of civilian drones in these zones is strictly forbidden. We urge everyone involved to comply with this directive,” the release stated on Thursday.
This is not the first instance of drone restrictions being enforced during significant visits in Tamil Nadu. Such measures are commonly adopted whenever high-profile individuals attend large public events, as drones are increasingly perceived as potential risks in densely populated areas.
With the temporary ban in effect, security agencies are maintaining heightened alertness around the event locations on both Thursday and Friday.
