Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Coimbatore, March 29 (NationPress) Extensive security measures have been implemented throughout Coimbatore in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit this Sunday. He will transit through the city to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming elections in Kerala.
Authorities have designated several regions in and around Coimbatore as “Red Zones,” imposing stringent restrictions on drone activities and public access. These actions are part of a thorough security protocol aimed at guaranteeing the Prime Minister’s secure arrival and departure from Coimbatore Airport.
As per police statements, the usage of drones has been entirely prohibited in sensitive areas, including Neelambur, Chinthamanipudur, Chettipalayam, Madhukarai, Ettimadai, Walayar, and surrounding regions under the oversight of the Coimbatore Rural Police until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition, the Coimbatore City Police have enacted Red Zone rules across significant urban routes such as Avinashi Road, Peelamedu, SITRA, Nehru Nagar, Singanallur, SIHS Colony, Chinniampalayam, Kalapatti, the Kochi-Palakkad Road, Pothanur, Sundarapuram, and Eachaneri for a duration of 48 hours.
Approximately 5,000 police officers have been assigned across the district, and a three-tier security structure has been established at the airport and its surroundings. Surveillance efforts have been heightened with advanced monitoring technology, and access to pivotal zones is being meticulously controlled.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Coimbatore by flight and subsequently head to Kerala via helicopter as part of his campaign agenda leading up to the Assembly elections.
Kerala is slated to hold its elections on April 9, with political activities escalating statewide. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will campaign for NDA candidates in the Palakkad and Thrissur districts.
He is anticipated to land in Palakkad around 2:30 p.m. and will address a public rally at Fort Ground shortly after. Later, he will proceed to Thrissur for a roadshow at approximately 4 p.m. In Thrissur, he will lend his support to Padmaja Venugopal, the daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, which adds further political weight to the visit.
This high-profile campaign is expected to significantly enhance the NDA’s visibility within the state as election activities reach a critical juncture.
