Kolkata, April 8 (NationPress) An alleged intense disagreement between two Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha members at the Election Commission of India’s office on April 4 has come to light.
BJP's Chief of Information Technology Cell and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, has published video clips showcasing the confrontation involving veteran Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member and prominent advocate of the Calcutta High Court, Kalyan Banerjee, alongside cricketer-turned-politician and party Lok Sabha member Kirti Azad.
In addition to sharing the clips on his X handle, Malviya stated, “Following the public altercation between the two TMC MPs within the precincts of the Election Commission of India on April 4, 2025, the angry MP continued to disparage the ‘Versatile International Lady (VIL).”
However, it remains unclear from the post who the reference to the “Versatile International Lady (VIL)” pertains to. In one of the four videos, Banerjee was heard asserting in an elevated tone that he is neither an MP from any quota nor did he join Trinamool Congress from any other political party.
In a subsequent post on his X wall, shared early Tuesday, Malviya expanded on the details surrounding the confrontation between Banerjee and Azad.
Malviya claimed that on April 4, the two Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha members engaged in a public disagreement at the ECI headquarters while there to submit a representation.
“It appears that the party directed its MPs to convene at the Parliament office to sign the memorandum before heading to the EC. However, the MP responsible for the memorandum bypassed the Parliament meeting and went directly to the EC. This infuriated another MP, who confronted him upon their encounter at the Commission. A heated exchange ensued, with both shouting at one another—so much so that one of them requested police personnel present to intervene. The situation escalated swiftly and reached Mamata Banerjee, who allegedly ordered both MPs to back down,” the initial post by Malviya stated.
The head of the BJP's Information Technology cell also asserted that the dispute between the two agitated MPs had spilled into a WhatsApp group.
“But the conflict didn’t conclude there. It overflowed into the ‘AITC MP 2024’ WhatsApp group, where opposing factions took sides and exchanged insults. And amid it all, the question remains: who exactly is the ‘versatile international lady? That mystery is one for the world to solve,” Malviya’s post concluded.
He also included some messages from the aforementioned WhatsApp Group indicating the ongoing feud.
