Kolkata, Oct 6 (NationPress) Amit Malviya, the Chief of BJP's Information Technology Cell and the party's central observer for West Bengal, vehemently criticized the Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the assault on BJP's Lok Sabha member, Khagen Murmu. He asserted that the Trinamool Congress has initiated a state of 'Jungle Raj' in Bengal.
Murmu, who has served two terms as the BJP's Lok Sabha member from the Maldaha-Uttar constituency in Malda district, was reportedly attacked by individuals affiliated with Trinamool Congress on Monday afternoon. This incident occurred while he was en route to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district to assist in relief and rescue operations for those affected by the recent catastrophic rains, floods, and landslides in the North Bengal hills, Terai, and Dooars regions.
Malviya pointed out that the state administration and Chief Minister Banerjee were notably absent while North Bengal grappled with natural calamities. He claimed that Trinamool Congress supporters began attacking BJP leaders and workers who were engaged in relief efforts.
"While Mamata Banerjee enjoys herself at the Kolkata Carnival, the TMC and state administration remain unaccounted for. Those who are genuinely assisting the populace—BJP leaders and karyakartas—are being assaulted for their altruistic efforts. This exemplifies TMC's Bengal, where cruelty reigns and compassion is punished," he stated in a post on X.
BJP's Chief Whip Shankar Ghosh, who accompanied Khagen Murmu during the incident and sustained minor injuries, reported that their vehicle was attacked as it arrived in Bamandanga.
"Our vehicle was assaulted with sticks and rods, and stones were hurled at us. Murmu suffered a head injury from a stone, which resulted in significant bleeding. The damage to our vehicle was substantial," Ghosh added.
