Kolkata, May 30 (NationPress) An alarming audio recording has emerged, allegedly featuring a Trinamool Congress district leader making horrific threats to a police officer, suggesting the assault of his mother and wife.
The audio was initially shared on the social media account of BJP's state president in West Bengal, Sukanta Majumdar, and later reposted by Amit Malviya, the chief of the party's Information Technology cell and its central observer for West Bengal.
In his repost, Malviya asserted that this incident reveals the true nature of the ruling party in West Bengal, illustrating how poorly a police officer is treated.
He further argued that such an event highlights the dire situation of ordinary citizens and the significant insecurity women face in the state.
"A TMC leader, right under the watch of a female Chief Minister, threatens a police officer with the rape of his mother and wife. This is the true face of TMC - emboldened, lawless, and shameless. If this is how they treat law enforcement, consider the plight of common citizens. This unequivocally shows that women are unsafe in West Bengal - not under TMC's governance," read Malviya's post.
Earlier, while posting the audio on social media, Majumdar urged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar to promptly investigate the situation.
"If police are subjected to such threats, what becomes of the general populace?" Majumdar questioned.
He added, "What will be the repercussions for the administration once this conversation is public? The official will likely be sidelined within 48 hours or reassigned to the Sundarbans!" Majumdar's statement suggested.
The Trinamool Congress has yet to issue a response regarding the audio clip.
