TMC Challenges PM Modi with Five Key Questions Ahead of Kolkata Rally
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) Just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a massive rally at the Brigade Parade Ground this Saturday afternoon, which signifies the wrap-up of the Bharatiya Janata Party's ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in the run-up to the West Bengal Assembly elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has put forth five pressing questions for him.
The TMC took to social media, labeling the Prime Minister a "political tourist" in West Bengal.
The first inquiry addresses the situation of 60 lakh voters who have been referred for judicial scrutiny after being categorized under "logical discrepancy."
"After the removal of 63 lakh names, the referral of 60 lakh more for adjudication, and the loss of nearly 200 innocent lives, how many individuals from Bangladesh and Rohingya have genuinely been identified through SIR?" is the crux of their first question.
The second inquiry probes why impoverished and vulnerable families across the nation are facing hunger due to skyrocketing LPG prices and a dire supply crisis. "Why weren't strategic reserves established despite global uncertainties?" they ask.
The third question highlights the deliberate withholding of West Bengal’s rightful share of funds from various centrally-sponsored schemes, amounting to Rs 1.96 lakh crore. "Why has the Union government failed to resume MGNREGA in Bengal, even after a clear directive from the Supreme Court?"
The fourth point raises concerns about the profiling, harassment, detention, deportation, and brutal lynching of Bengali migrant workers from West Bengal in BJP-governed areas simply for speaking their native language.
Finally, the fifth question calls attention to the repeated insults directed at Bengal's cherished cultural and spiritual figures by BJP leaders, including PM Modi himself. "Why has he and other BJP leaders shown such disregard for the icons we hold dear?"
The Trinamool Congress has inundated the city with posters since Friday night, demanding the release of unpaid dues owed to the West Bengal government under various central schemes.
