Chennai, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, officially launched the pilot initiative known as "Kalaipattarai" (Art Workshop) on Wednesday. This program is designed for students in Classes 9 to 12 at government and aided schools, with the goal of enhancing creativity, life skills, and overall personal growth.

During his speech at the Anna Centenary Library Auditorium in Kotturpuram, the Minister emphasized the government's commitment to cultivating innovative thinking, effective communication, and confident self-expression among students.

He remarked that incorporating art into education will empower young individuals to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and resilience, essential traits in today's society.

The pilot project will feature workshops spanning various creative fields, such as visual arts, music, theatre, and other performing arts.

Officials noted that these sessions aim not only to nurture artistic abilities but also to enhance emotional resilience and interpersonal skills among adolescents.

Poyyamozhi highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to tackle social issues, mentioning that the School Education Department is implementing awareness campaigns to combat substance abuse among students.

"Our mission is to prepare students for life by providing not just academic knowledge, but also essential values and coping mechanisms," he stated.

The department has allocated Rs 1.5 crore for this initiative, showcasing the government's dedication to promoting a comprehensive educational experience.

Authorities indicated that the pilot will undergo a thorough evaluation for effectiveness, and if successful, the program could be expanded to reach more students across the state.

Educators have embraced 'Kalaipattarai', asserting that art-centered training will enhance classroom experiences by fostering a more inclusive and interactive learning atmosphere.
