What Led to the Tragic Incident During K'taka Ganesh Visarjan?

Bengaluru, Sep 12 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conveyed his heartfelt condolences on Friday regarding the unfortunate event where a truck crashed into the Ganesh Visarjan procession, claiming the lives of eight individuals. Additionally, over 20 people sustained injuries due to this incident.

In a message posted on X, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed: "It is profoundly distressing to learn that a lorry drove into participants of the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Hassan, leading to tragic fatalities and numerous serious injuries."

"I pray for the souls of the departed to find peace and for the injured to heal swiftly. Our government will provide a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to each family of the deceased, in addition to covering the medical costs for the injured. This is a deeply sorrowful tragedy, and we must unite in support of the affected families," CM Siddaramaiah remarked.

Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda stated: "The heartbreaking incident in Mosale Hosahalli village of Hassan district, where eight lives were lost and several others were gravely injured, is truly devastating."

"I pray that the souls of the departed rest in peace, and that the injured recover swiftly. I share the sorrow of those who have lost loved ones in this tragic event," he added.

Opposition Leader R. Ashoka commented: "The incident in Mosale Hosahalli, where a canter lorry collided with the Ganesh Visarjan procession, leading to the deaths of eight and injuring over 20, has left a profound impact on us all."

"I pray for eternal peace for those who lost their lives, and may God grant strength to the grieving families. I urge the state government and local authorities to take immediate action for the treatment of the injured and ensure suitable compensation for the bereaved families," he urged.

BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra remarked: "The incident in Mosale Hosahalli where a vehicle crashed into the Ganesh Visarjan procession, leading to the tragic deaths of eight individuals and injuries to 20 others, is immensely shocking. It's a horrific tragedy that such a vehicle suddenly invaded the festival crowd."

"I pray for peace for the departed, call for urgent actions to provide necessary medical aid to the injured, and insist that the government promptly announce fitting compensation for the affected families," he emphasized.

According to police reports, during the Ganesh immersion in Mosale Hosahalli, the truck driver, due to excessive speed and reckless driving, collided with the crowd celebrating the Ganesh Visarjan.

Participants in the procession included residents from Mosale Hosahalli, Hirehalli, and nearby areas. The identities of the deceased are still under verification.

The driver, Bhuvanesh, a local, has been hospitalized after being pulled from the vehicle and assaulted by bystanders. Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding and negligent driving led to this tragic event.
