Tragic Incident in Kishtwar: Four Lives Lost as Vehicle Falls into Gorge

Jammu, Jan 5 (NationPress) A devastating incident occurred on Sunday when a vehicle carrying four individuals plunged into a gorge in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the vehicle lost control in the Massu Paddar region.

“The vehicle fell into a steep gorge after the driver lost control of the steering wheel. This unfortunate accident claimed the lives of four people. A rescue operation was promptly initiated. Reports indicate that two individuals are still missing following this tragedy, and efforts are underway to locate them,” officials stated.

This incident occurred just a day after a separate road accident in the Saderkoot Payeen area of Bandipora district, where four soldiers lost their lives when their Army vehicle veered off course and fell into a gorge. Medical personnel at a local hospital first declared two soldiers as deceased upon arrival, while the other two succumbed to their injuries later. One soldier remains hospitalized for treatment.

The Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressed their condolences regarding the soldiers' deaths in the Bandipora accident.

In response to escalating threats, the Army, police, and security forces have intensified anti-terror operations and patrolling activities across both the interior regions and borders, following intelligence reports suggesting that terrorists are poised to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir.

Security forces have been actively conducting operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the terror infrastructure in the union territory.

These operations were prompted by a series of heinous attacks perpetrated by terrorists after the successful and largely peaceful Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in J&K. Intelligence reports indicate that the peaceful elections, which were monitored by diplomats from various nations, have frustrated terror operatives across the border in Pakistan. These operatives have allegedly instructed terrorists to mount a final offensive in the region.
