Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Mourn the Loss of Soldiers in Bandipora Accident, Wish for the Injured's Recovery

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi expressed their deep sorrow on Saturday regarding the loss of Army personnel in a tragic incident in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Both leaders turned to social media to honor the martyred soldiers, describing the event as ‘profoundly tragic’.

In an unfortunate turn of events, an Army vehicle transporting the troops lost control and went off the highway in Bandipora this evening, resulting in the death of three soldiers and injuring three others.

Rahul shared his sentiments on his X account, stating, “The news of our soldiers' martyrdom due to the Army van accident in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, is extremely sorrowful. I pay my respects to the fallen soldiers and wish for the swift recovery of the injured. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families.”

Priyanka Gandhi also characterized the loss of soldiers in this accident as deeply troubling.

“May God grant eternal peace to the lost souls. My sincerest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the rapid recovery of the injured soldiers,” she expressed on X.

The injured personnel were promptly transported to a local hospital, where doctors reported that two soldiers were pronounced dead upon arrival. Three critically wounded soldiers were later moved to Srinagar for advanced medical care.

“Two of the injured soldiers also succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll in this road mishap to four. The condition of one soldier remains critical,” officials stated.

As per an Army announcement, the accident occurred while the soldiers were on duty.

“The Army vehicle skidded and fell into a gorge due to adverse weather conditions and low visibility. Local residents of Kashmir assisted in the medical evacuation of the injured soldiers. We extend our gratitude to the community for their immediate support. Tragically, three brave soldiers lost their lives in this unfortunate event,” said a statement from the Chinar Corps.
