Gurugram, July 11 (NationPress) Family and friends gathered to say a heartfelt goodbye to national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav during her cremation on Saturday, as the staff at the Gurugram sports academy where she coached young athletes remained in disbelief just a day after her tragic murder.
While Radhika was laid to rest at a local cremation site, her father, the alleged killer, was taken into police custody by a city court. Colleagues at the tennis academy in Sector 57 expressed their struggle to process the shocking news of her death.
Tanu Singh, the caretaker of the tennis courts, remembered Radhika as a kind-hearted and courteous co-worker. “She dedicated herself to training children twice each day,” Tanu Singh shared with IANS.
According to Tanu, Radhika traveled to the academy independently, either by autorickshaw or with the parents of the children she coached. He noted that she had been working with young athletes for about a month.
“I had never seen her father or any other family member accompany her to the academy,” he remarked. Another academy employee expressed sorrow over her murder, stating, “She never hinted at any issues or family conflicts to anyone at the academy.”
Earlier, a Gurugram court ordered the detention of Radhika’s father, Deepak Yadav, 49, for a day for questioning, while her mother struggled to provide clarity on the shocking incident.
Police sources revealed that Radhika’s mother, Manju Yadav, has been vague about the events leading up to the tragic incident, claiming she was resting in her room due to illness when it occurred, according to an investigator who chose to remain anonymous.
Deepak Yadav allegedly shot his daughter three times during an argument concerning her management of a sports academy. On Friday afternoon, police presented Yadav in a Gurugram court and requested a two-day remand, but the judge only permitted a one-day interrogation.
Yadav was brought to court under heavy security, with his face concealed by a hood, led by Rajender Kumar, the Station House Officer of the Sector 56 police station. Investigators refrained from answering media inquiries regarding any potential romantic involvement in the case.
