Mumbai, May 23 (NationPress) A ten-year-old girl reportedly took her own life after a quarrel with her older sister regarding which television channel to watch in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, according to police reports released on Friday.

This heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thursday morning in Bodena village, situated approximately five kilometers from Korchi tehsil.

The victim has been identified as Sonali Anand Narote. Around 8 a.m., Sonali was enjoying a television show alongside her older sister Sandhya, aged 12, and her brother Saurabh, aged 8.

During their viewing, Sonali expressed a desire to switch to her preferred channel, which led to a conflict when Sandhya intervened.

In the midst of the argument, Sandhya took the remote control from Sonali. Later, in a moment of distress, Sonali tragically hanged herself from a tree located behind her home.

These children were attending a private ashram school in Khoba (Gondia district) and had returned home for the summer break.

Their youngest sibling, Shivam, resides with their mother, while their father passed away a few years ago.

Upon receiving the report, Police Inspector Shailesh Thackeray, along with Sub Inspector of Police Deshmukh and their team, arrived at the scene and arranged for a post-mortem examination of the body.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of distress-related fatalities in Maharashtra.
