Transformative Impact of PM FME Scheme on Damoh's Residents in Madhya Pradesh

Damoh, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of the Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) initiative is a crucial factor in empowering the youth to become modern entrepreneurs, while also facilitating their ability to accumulate wealth from small-scale businesses.

The inhabitants of Damoh, located in Madhya Pradesh, stand as a testament to the success of the PM FME initiative. Several locals embarked on their entrepreneurial journeys with government support some time ago, and they are now reaping substantial profits.

Karan Kurmi, a resident of Mirzapur village in Patharia block of Damoh, secured a loan of Rs 6 lakh through the FME scheme to establish a milk processing unit in his village. Today, he operates a thriving business and provides jobs to 8 individuals.

While sharing his success story with IANS, he revealed that he invested in various types of machines for milk preservation and traveled from village to village on a motorcycle to collect milk from dairy farmers.

“Initially, there were numerous challenges, but now the workforce has expanded. I am currently employing around 7 to 8 people. With the evolution of the industry, operations have become more manageable; I now source milk from farmers across approximately 7 to 8 villages,” he stated.

He also mentioned that he earns a net profit of about Rs 35,000 to 40,000 from his milk business.

Interestingly, the government offers a subsidy of up to 35 percent to beneficiaries under the PM FME scheme.

PL Ahirwar, an official from the Damoh Horticulture Department, noted that this government-run initiative is granting wings to the aspirations of the nation's youth.

Detailing the scheme's impact in Damoh district, he shared that over 122 beneficiaries have reaped the benefits of this initiative in the last three years.

“The government covers 35 percent of the total project costs. Many farmers who have engaged with this scheme are now successfully operating units for pulses, rice, milk, and dairy products such as ghee, cheese, and butter,” he elaborated.

In addition to these beneficiaries, the inspiring success story of Devendra Parmar is motivating more villagers to pursue this pathway to success.

It is said of him, “He began his dairy business with 5 cows and today manages 150 cows, producing 500 litres of milk daily and providing employment to roughly 500 people.
