How Are LEDs, Toys, and Nutrition Gardens Changing Early Childhood in MP's Neemuch?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 13 (NationPress) The Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan initiative, born from the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is becoming a groundbreaking advancement in women and child development. This program is rapidly transforming traditional Anganwadi centres into lively, modern spaces for learning, nutrition, and care.
Under this initiative, Anganwadi centres are evolving beyond their typical role of merely distributing nutrition. These hubs are now being enhanced into well-equipped facilities that provide a blend of education, health, and recreation. Amenities such as LED televisions, RO water filters, contemporary teaching tools, toys, hygienic meal options, and nutrition gardens are being integrated, all aimed at creating a child-friendly and stimulating environment. This initiative has played a crucial role in the comprehensive growth of children while also increasing maternal awareness about nutrition and health.
In the Neemuch district, 58 Anganwadi centres have already been upgraded to Saksham Anganwadis. These centres provide smart learning, clean drinking water, and nutritious food, fostering trust and confidence among families. The happy faces of children and the increased sense of security among mothers highlight the success of this scheme. This initiative underscores a strong commitment to nurturing not only the children of today but also the future of our nation.
As part of this initiative, Anganwadi Centre No. 4 in Gram Panchayat Bharbhadiya and the Anganwadi Centre in Gram Panchayat Girdoda have also been modernized.
Officials report that children at these centres benefit from digital learning via LED TVs, alongside educational materials and play equipment that support their overall growth. Regular nutrition exhibitions are held, and the first and third Tuesdays of each month are marked as Mangal Diwas, featuring ‘Godh Bharai’ events for pregnant women and ‘Suposhan Diwas’ activities.
Children at the Anganwadi centres engage in early education through a play-based approach, ensuring their comprehensive development. Pregnant women are provided with nutritious meals, timely vaccinations, and health guidance. These ceremonies also advocate for maternal health and community involvement.
Neemuch District Programme Officer (Women and Child Development) Ankita Pandya stated that the Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 schemes focus on upgrading Anganwadi centres and child nutrition. She noted that 58 centres have been enhanced in the first phase, with 268 more set for the second phase. Essential facilities like electricity, toilets, drinking water, TV setups, nutrition gardens, rainwater harvesting, and toys have been established. Special emphasis is placed on the nutrition of pregnant women and malnourished children, with four Mangal Diwas events organized every month as community celebrations.
Beneficiary Jyoti Yadav, a pregnant woman from Girdoda village, shared her experience, stating that her Godh Bharai was conducted at the Anganwadi centre, where she received timely vaccinations. She expressed her gratitude towards Anganwadi workers for their regular guidance on health and nutrition and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative.
