Balrampur (Chhattisgarh), Oct 8 (NationPress) The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a pioneering solar energy initiative, is transforming the lives of citizens across India by installing solar panels in their homes. This initiative not only lays the foundation for sustainable energy but also significantly alleviates the financial burden associated with electricity costs while contributing to environmental protection.
In the Balrampur-Ramanujganj district of Chhattisgarh, this scheme has seen immense adoption, positively impacting the lives of thousands of local residents.
For instance, Rohit Gupta, a Balrampur resident, has installed a 3-kilowatt solar panel on his rooftop through this initiative. This has not only decreased his electricity expenses but has also provided him with additional financial benefits.
Rohit mentioned that he applied for the PM’s solar power scheme as soon as he learned about it. He received a subsidy of Rs 78,000 from the Central government and Rs 30,000 from the state government, along with convenient financing options from a bank. His solar panel was promptly installed.
This installation has resulted in reduced electricity bills and opened avenues for generating supplementary income from excess electricity in the future.
"Previously, my monthly electricity bill was a cause of concern, but now we harness our own solar energy. This not only saves us money but also helps the environment," he shared with IANS.
He emphasized that every family should leverage this initiative, as it promises long-term advantages.
Launched in February 2024, the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana aims to provide every household with affordable and clean solar energy. The central and state governments are collaborating to offer subsidies for solar system installations under this scheme. Furthermore, with accessible bank loans, even those from middle- and low-income backgrounds can easily participate in this initiative.
