Ahmedabad, April 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, attended the last rites of a father and son who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The remains of the deceased, who hailed from Bhavnagar, were transported back to their hometown late Wednesday night.
The victims, Yatish Parmar and his son Smit Parmar, were part of a 20-member group from Bhavnagar that traveled to Kashmir to participate in a religious discourse led by Morari Bapu. The group was sightseeing in Pahalgam when the attack took place on April 22.
Kajal Parmar, Smit's mother, was overcome with grief upon seeing the bodies of her husband and son. Their remains were initially flown from Kashmir to Mumbai, then to Ahmedabad, and ultimately returned to Bhavnagar late that night.
In attendance at the last rites were Chief Minister Patel, Union Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya, Bhavnagar MLA Jitubhai Vaghani, Mayor Bharatbhai Barad, Municipal Chairman Rajubhai Rabadiya, District Collector Dr. Manish Bansal, along with several local corporators and officials.
The Pahalgam terror attack also left another Bhavnagar resident, Vinubhai Dabhi, injured. He suffered a bullet wound in his right arm and is currently receiving treatment in Kashmir. Fortunately, the bullet grazed his arm without causing significant structural damage.
Chief Minister Patel has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured tourists from the state.
In light of the current security circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir, spiritual leader Morari Bapu has temporarily suspended his ongoing Ram Katha sessions in Srinagar. An official post from the Shree Chitrakutdham Trust on X stated: "Ram Katha 955, being held in Srinagar, has been postponed after the 5th day until further notice due to the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. All those who attended the Katha are safe and well. The postponement decision has been made purely for everyone's safety and well-being. The remaining four days of the Katha will resume when conditions allow."
