Kolkata, Feb 3 (NationPress) A video has rapidly gained attention in West Bengal on Monday, featuring a local Trinamool Congress booth president who was caught on tape threatening a government teacher for conducting the worship of the Hindu goddess during Saraswati Puja.

This occurrence unfolded in Nadia district, where each year, the teachers and parents of the school facilitate Saraswati Puja in celebration of Basant Panchami.

In the footage, the Trinamool local booth president, Alimuddin Mondal, can be seen and heard issuing a threat to the teacher, warning of a transfer order to a distant location within 24 hours if the festival proceeds as planned this year.

Mondal was also noted for using inappropriate language. The video shows some local youths attempting to calm him down.

Nevertheless, West Bengal Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari later asserted that with the support of the local community, Saraswati Puja was celebrated at the same venue this year as well.

On that day, Adhikari brought attention to two additional incidents of similar intimidation against Saraswati Puja celebrations in the state.

He stated that on this second day of Saraswati Puja, the idol of the goddess was defaced in the Kalinga area of Chapra, Nadia district, and the Saraswati Puja at Balai Beriya School in Hooghly district was halted due to opposition from certain members of the local community.

“This represents a direct assault on Hindu traditions. The worship of the goddess is an integral part of our culture and is fundamentally connected to the development of students,” he remarked.
