Kolkata, Sep 17 (NationPress) A shocking video has surfaced showing a Trinamool Congress leader allegedly attacking and humiliating the acting headmaster of a state-run school on the premises in Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
The altercation occurred at Birendra Vidyaniketan on Tuesday. The accused leader claimed he was merely defending himself as the headmaster attempted to strike him.
The conflict reportedly arose over the collection of funds from students for school excursions. CCTV footage, released by the school, depicted the acting headmaster, Milankanti Pal, being confronted by the president of the school's management committee and local Trinamool panchayat member Tridib Barui, questioning the rationale behind collecting money from students without notifying the management committee.
In the footage, Tridib Barui is seen physically pushing and shoving the headmaster in front of students.
"The Trinamool leader presented a document filled with false allegations against me. He demanded my signature, claiming I was soliciting funds from students without the committee's knowledge. After I refused to sign, he struck me on the neck, forced me out of my office, and continued to shove and hit me," stated the headmaster.
He reported injuries to his hand and neck and is currently receiving treatment at Kakdwip Super-specialty Hospital.
In response, the Trinamool leader accused the headmaster of initiating the violence and insisted he acted in self-defense. Tridib Barui stated, "I confronted him about the money collection. When I entered his office to present a receipt, he crumpled it and discarded it. As I picked it up and requested his signature, he assaulted me. I was only trying to protect myself."
BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya condemned the incident, asserting, "This act of violence in the education sector reveals the true character of the Trinamool Congress," while sharing the viral CCTV footage.
Following the incident's emergence, Kakdwip Trinamool MLA Manturam Pakhira indicated, "We are aware of the situation. An investigation is underway. Should the allegations against Tridib Barui be substantiated, the party will take stringent action. The conduct of the acting headmaster will also be scrutinized."
