Kolkata, Oct 15 (NationPress) A shocking video featuring a Trinamool Congress leader brutally assaulting a young man in Burdwan town, located in West Bengal's East Burdwan district, has taken social media by storm.
The individual accused of the attack is identified as Sheikh Kaloo, a local leader from Ward Number 26 of Burdwan Municipality, while the victim is named Amit Roy, a local youth.
In the disturbing footage, Roy can be seen pleading for mercy as Kaloo continues the assault, employing various objects, including the blunt edge of a sword.
However, it is important to note that IANS has not yet confirmed the video's authenticity.
Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal's Assembly, shared the video on social media, stating that the trend of Trinamool Congress leaders assaulting individuals during these so-called Kangaroo Courts has escalated in West Bengal.
"There is no rule of law; the ruling Trinamool's dominance persists unchecked," Adhikari asserted.
"I urge the authorities to take appropriate action against those featured in the video, as they are taking the law into their own hands. If this continues, West Bengal might even outdo the brutality of British and Mughal rule," he added.
In a similar incident last June, a video went viral showing another local Trinamool Congress leader, Tejemul Islam, known as JCB, mercilessly beating a local woman and a youth over accusations of an extramarital affair at a Kangaroo Court in Chopra, North Dinajpur district.
Adhikari referenced this incident in his post to demonstrate the pattern of Trinamool leaders taking the law into their own hands during these arbitration meetings.
He also pointed to two other instances of excessive behavior by Trinamool Congress leaders at similar Kangaroo Courts, one in Rajarhat-Bishnupur in North 24 Parganas and the other in Harishchandrapur in Malda district.
